“SOUTHOLD HISTORICAL SOCIETY 3rd ANNUAL SUMMER SOIREE TO
TAKE PLACE JULY 22, 2006 !”
SOUTHOLD, NY. The Southold
Historical Society is pleased to announce that the 3rd annual SUMMER SOIREE, a musical gala, will take
place from 6:30-10:00 pm on July 22, 2006. The event will take place at the
fabulous Bedell Cellars located on Main Road (Route 25) in
Cutchogue.
The 3rd annual gala to be thrown by the Society, the Soiree will feature a
live band in addition to a silent auction and raffle. “After the
success of last years event we are pleased to offer this great evening
fundraiser again,” stated Geoffrey Fleming, Director of the Society.
Bedell Cellars is one of the premier wineries on the North
Fork of Long Island. A nationally recognized leader in quality, Bedell
produces award-winning Merlot, Bordeaux-style blends, and a hot new Artist
Series with label art commissioned from Eric Fischl and Barbara Kruger. The
Corey Creek Vineyards label, also grown and produced by Bedell Cellars, is
renowned for a series of small batch varietally labeled wines like
Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Franc, and most notably Chardonnay.
Bedell's owner, Michael Lynne, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of New
Line Cinema and Executive Producer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is raising
the bar for quality among Long Island wine estates. Working alongside Bedell's
Chief Operating Officer Trent Preszler are founding Winemaker Kip Bedell,
Winemaker John Irving Levenberg, and Consulting Oenologist Pascal Marty,
formerly of Chateau Mouton Rothschild. The Bedell facility is unmatched
regionally for its sophistication. The new state-of-the-art winery was completed
in 2005 and boasts custom designed open-top fermenting tanks and a
gravity-driven regime to minimize pumping and filtering.
The Soiree will include an open wine bar and the fabulous and amazing hors d’oeuvres created
by the Piping Plover Café of Southold. The food from The Piping Plover Café is
well known on the North Fork where gourmet food and fine service are the
specialty.
This year the
famous "Lone Sharks" will be the evenings featured entertainment. Mixing
maximum Rhythm 'n' Twang Since 1988, their participation this year
should make the 3rd Annual Summer Soiree a memorable one.
Though music is the over-arching theme, other activities will be included
during the evening. One of these is a silent auction. The auction will include
many donated items, including fine art, antiques, and other assorted items.
