PRESS RELEASE
Society Publishes Horton Point Lighthouse
Cookbook to Celebrate 150 Years!
SOUTHOLD, NY. The Southold Historical Society is
pleased to announce the publication of a great new community cookbook to
commemorate the 150th anniversary of Horton Point Lighthouse in Southold.
Society lighthouse volunteers have compiled the cookbook,
entitled "Horton Point Lighthouse Cookbook---A Celebration of 150 Years."
Through the generosity of the community and friends of the lighthouse, the
cookbook contains 449 recipes---family favorites, party fare and a section of
"Old Time Receipts" just for fun.
There is also an essay on living at the lighthouse,
anecdotes from the volunteers, sketches of lighthouse paraphernalia, and a
fabulous color photograph by Patrick Haggerty. Enthusiastically received by
early purchasers, the book is available at the lighthouse, at the Southold
Historical Society gift shop and at various local businesses for $13.95 + tax.
It is a unique gift for all occasions and is bound to
become worn and spattered from frequent use. Get your copies now! All proceeds
benefit the Society's nautical museum at the lighthouse.
As part of the 150th celebration, there will be concerts,
picnics, and other special programs this summer. Watch the local papers for
details!
