This year's trip to Southwold, where Southold founder Rev. John Youngs
emigrated from, included special receptions and tours that could not have been
better! A formal reception at Town Hall by the Mayor and Town Council was
followed by special tours of the Southwold Museum and St. Edmund's Church, which
was established in the 15th century as a daughter church to St. Margaret's in
nearby Reydon (for which our "Reydon Shores" is named). Tea was served to
the Southold group at the home of Ruth Chapman of Reydon followed by a buffet
dinner at the home of the Vicar of St. Edmund's Church, Jane Wilson. The
group was also honored at the high mass at St. Edmund's Church and treated to a
magnificent luncheon at St. Edmund's Hall following the service. Further
events and receptions, including those held in conjunction with the annual
"Blessing of the Nets" ceremony, were also held. Many thanks to all those
in Southwold and Reydon who made our visit to their beautiful town such a
memorable one. We all hope to return one day soon!
