“Passion for Colour” Art Exhibition to hit Southold”
SOUTHOLD, NY. The Southold Historical Society is pleased to announce for the first time on the North Fork it is hosting a special exhibition featuring the artworks of Mac Titmus and Christopher J. Alexander at its Reichert Family Center's Cosden-Price Gallery. This exhibit of original works will be on display from June 3 through June 14, 2014 in the gallery, which is located at 54127 Main Road, Southold, NY. Artist Reception will be held Friday June 6, 5-7pm. Saturated color, lyrical movement, forceful line, and complex imagery are just a few of the adjectives used to describe the artistry of Mac Titmus and Christopher J. Alexander. Their passion for vivid color translates into a stimulating and climatic visual experience. The digital visions of Mac seek your personal interpretation, and with what began in New York at the turn of the 20th century as “The New Spirit”, the creations of Chris champion those responses in oil, and pastel. The result is a gift to the viewer that leaves their senses begging for more. Don’t miss this opportunity as their creative forces come together for the first time on Long Island’s North Fork. Mac is an Abstract artist specializing in Digital Collage, Digital Painting and Fine Art Imagery. His work has been displayed in galleries across Long Island in individual, group and juried shows. His latest achievements include 4 first Place awards in regional shows and the Viewer's Choice award at two Briarcliffe College LI Artists Exhibits. In October he was chosen as a Featured Artist at the Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council grand opening and was the subject of a feature article in the CSA Journal in November. This past January he was featured as the 2nd place winner in Graphic Arts for "Art Buzz, The 2014 Collection.” Chris takes pride in the fact that he is a self- taught artist, deciding in 2000 to express himself through painting. His process developed naturally with experimentation and perseverance. He finds inspiration through the work of his favorite artists, Georgia O'Keefe, Wassily Kandinsky and Pablo Picasso. Chris has four pieces permanently on display at the New York Sports Club, Port Jefferson . Additionally, he has been commissioned for work on Long Island, New York City, upstate New York, New Jersey, and Florida. He is privileged to have been asked to participate is gallery shows across Long Island. Today, he is confident to paint how he feels about what he sees and aspires to create visions that one can only see in his paintings. The exhibit will be on display in the Cosden-Price Gallery in the Society’s Reichert Family Center, located at 54127 Main Road, Southold, NY, daily from June 3 through June 14, 2014, 12pm – 5pm.
