For each of us the holiday season sparks fond memories of the past as well as stirs up some anticipation of change for the future in the New Year. Our collection is built on the sharing of memories and deserves being housed in an environmentally safe place. A positive change for the collection’s future has come in the shape of a grant to ensure its safekeeping.
The Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation has awarded SHS a grant of $72,245 to help with our collections care. With the grant’s support, we will be installing new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) in the Ann Currie-Bell House, Thomas Moore House, the Print Shop and the Pettit Center.
The new year will see these changes at the museum complex that will enable us to exhibit more of our collections for you to enjoy and to preserve it for future generations while expanding our programming as we look at life here in Southold---past, present and future.
Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year to all!
