Join our Roundtable on January 17! We will be creating a visual essay on the History of Winemaking on Long Island's East End. Our Roundtable discussions in 2017 centered around the unique history of Southold and its surrounding communities. We reflected on the cultural character of our communities which included engaging in farming, fishing and the arts. As part of our contemporary history we identified the wine industry as part of our farming culture. Creating a visual essay of the wineries, their owners and workers will help us tell the story of this significant shift in our culture while honoring our farming heritage.
We received support from the Gardiner Foundation that enabled David Benthal, a distinguished North Fork photographer, to provide us with visuals with which we will create our visual essay.
Now is the time to join with other community members at the Roundtable to create a visual essay to tell Southold's contemporary story. Join us on January 17 at 6pm at the Ann Currie-Bell House. Please RSVP by January 10 by calling (631) 756-5500.
