January 17 Treasure Exchange re-opens on a limited schedule
In January through March the exchange will only be open on Saturdays, 10-4. They will re-open full-time in April (see below).
January 26 Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting will take place at 5pm on January 26th, 2015 at Founder's Landing on Hobart Road in Southold.
March 10 Potluck Supper
Join at 5:30 pm at Jeni's Main Street Grill, whose owner has volunteered the space, for a fine evening of homemade food and wonderfully crafted desserts. The Grill is located next to the Prince Building on Main Road in Southold.
March 20 Photography Exhibit "Hobbling Through Southold" Opens
In the late 19th century, two older gentlemen wrote a column for the local papers called "Hobbles," in which they discussed the various old buildings along Main Road in downtown Southold and what had happened there, who had owned, them, and what was new (in their time). This exhibit will feature historic photographs combined with maps and their recollections. The exhibit will be on display in The Reichert Family Center's Cosden Price Gallery through May 2!
April 7 Treasure Exchange Opens Full-time
The Society's antiques and collectibles consignment shop (for more information click HERE) opens to the public for its full schedule beginning April 7, 2015 at the Society's Prince Building. Come and hunt for that rare print, elegant chandelier, or vintage toy. Join us at the only Antiques and Collectibles consignment shop on the North Fork! First consignments will be received April 7, 2015. From April on the exchange is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. Consignments are welcomed on each Tuesday until 2pm.
April 11 Chinese Auction Fundraiser

April 16 April Showers Dinner
Join us in the afternoon and evening for the Society's annual dinner at the Soundview Inn on the Sound. There will be a fifty-fifty cash raffle as part of the festivities. The dinner has seating available from the noon until the 8pm. Tickets are $25 per person and includes salad, main course, coffee or tea, and dessert. Tickets may be purchased on site during the day of the event.
May 9 Plum Island Painting & Photography Exhibit Opens
This exhibit will feature the collaborative work of a painter and photographer - John Sargent & Robert Lorenz - who have visited Plum Island, New York. Each has created works that will reveal the natural beauty of the island to the general public. This exhibit will be on display at the Reichert Family Center Thursday-Saturday, 1-4pm through May 30th.

May 23 Nautical Museum at Horton Point Lighthouse Opens
Visit our most popular attraction, the Horton Point Lighthouse that was originally laid out by George Washington. Marvel at the Nautical and Maritime artifacts, the views from the tower, and the "Tale of a Whale" display. The Lighthouse is open Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 am - 4pm. For Memorial Day Weekend the Lighthouse will be open Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (5/23-5/25).
June 13 Annual Society Yard Sale
The Southold Historical Society will hold a garage sale on the front porch of the Prince Building on Main Road on June 6th at 8:30am. The sale will include material donated by various Society members to benefit our programs and activities. Watch the papers for more details!
June 13 Marilyn Bottjer Exhibit Opens
Marilyn Bottjer has depicted many scenes on the North Fork as beautiful fiber-based art pieces. This exhibit will feature her works and will be on display at the Reichert Family Center Thursday-Saturday, 1-4pm through June 27th.
June 14 Victorian High Tea in conjunction with the Presbyterian Church
The Southold Historical Society in association with the First Presbyterian Church of Southold is hosting a Victorian Tea on the ground of the Society to celebrate the 375th Anniversary of Southold Town. The event will be held from 1 to 3 o’clock. Along with a scenic setting, attendees will enjoy tea sandwiches and assorted sweets. Pre-registration is suggested as space is limited. July 11 Maple Lane Complex opens to the Public
Bring out the family and enjoy a tour of our grounds, including the Ann Currie-Bell House, Thomas Moore House, Pine Neck Barn and many other buildings. Open Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday 1-4pm. There is an admission fee.
July 11 Summer Exhibition "Then & Now: Paintings of Southold"
The Southold Historical Society is pleased to announce it is hosting an exhibition of period and contemporary paintings depicting various locations in Southold Town over the summer at the Society’s Ann Currie-Bell House's Mayne Memorial Gallery. This exhibit will be on display from July 11 through October 11, 2015 in the gallery, which is located at 55200 Main Road, Southold, NY.

August 1 "Cloud 9" Painting Exhibit Opens

Southold Town will host the parade celebrating the 375th anniversary of its settlement on Saturday, August 1st.

August 8 Douglas Moore Concert at the Complex
This very popular annual event moves to our Museum Complex grounds this year, located opposite the Southold Firehouse at the corner of Maple Lane and Main Road (55200 Main Road, Southold). Please join us for a celebration of the music of noted American composer and former local resident, Douglas Moore. A community picnic begins at 5:30 pm, followed by music by the Music Makers at 6:30 pm, at 7 pm prizes will be given for the most elegant, traditional, and whimsical picnic spreads, and at 7:30 pm the Atlantic Wind Symphony under Conductor Joel Levy will perform.

September - December Fall Lecture Series
Each year the Society hosts half a dozen experts in regional history in cooperation with Peconic Landing in Greenport. Lectures take place in the auditorium at the Community Center at Peconic Landing, located at 1500 Brecknock Road, Greenport, NY. Watch for details.

Children from all over the North Fork come to the Historical Society for a series of educational (and fun!) activities. Nearly 1,000 children will attend this series again where they will learn about daily life in the past..

October 17 Fall Exhibition "Big Business in a Small Town"
Every small town has its local businesses, but very few have images taken at the time they opened. Local photographer Charles Meredith took these types of images from the 1930s through the mid 1960s as new businesses appeared in our town. This exhibit will feature historic images (both interior and exterior) of various 20th century stores and shops that he captured through his lense. Watch for more details!
November 12 Harvest Dinner
Join us on November 12th from 12noon -8pm for our new Harvest Dinner. The dinner, which will take place at the Soundview Restaurant, will feature "comfort food" as we begin our descent into the winter months. Tickets are $25 per person and there will also be a 50/50 cash raffle. Entree choices for the evening include Pot Roast and Salmon.
November 27 Annual Candlelight Holiday Tour
The Southold Historical Society will host its annual Candlelight Tour at the Museum grounds on the Main Road opposite the Firehouse on Friday
November 27, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. All buildings will be decorated for the holiday season and open to the public. Farm and home craft demonstrations will take place in the various buildings, strolling musicians will be on the grounds, Santa will be visiting, and refreshments will be served. The annual tree lighting at 5:00 p.m. will be accompanied by caroling led by the Southold High School Chorus Ensemble. No admission charge, donations accepted.
December 5 Holiday Fair
The Holiday Fair will take place on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Specially selected vendors will have a variety of holiday gifts and cards available for purchase. Each vendor will be carefully screened as to the quality of their merchandise to ensure that only the best hand-made items will be for sale. The fair will be held at the Peconic Recreation Center, located at 970 Peconic Lane, Peconic, New York and will be open from 10am to 4pm.
