Barns of the North Fork Exhibit to Open in Southold

August 25, 2015

PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOUTHOLD, NY.
The Southold Historical Society is pleased to announce it is hosting an exhibition of original paintings by the North Fork artists group, who studies with Diane Alec-Smith entitled “Barns of the North Fork.” The exhibit will be held at the Society’s Reichert Family Center’s Cosden-Price Gallery. The group is known for their landscape and seascape works, which document the beauty and personality of the North Fork.

This exhibit of original paintings will be on display from September 19 through October 3, 2015 in the gallery, which is located at 54127 Main Road, Southold, NY. The opening reception – which is open to the public – will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Gallery on Friday, September 18th.

The group consists of well-known local artists, including Diane Alec Smith, Ginny Blank, Beverly Cierach, Lee Cleary, Mary Epperlein, Chrisiti Ferrera, Tracy Flynn, Pat Foley, Janine Harrigan, Diane Parkin, Karen Rich, Evelyn Turchiano, Don Wilson, Marion Wipf, and Heather Worthington. Many of the group were raised on the North Fork and attended local schools where they first studied art. The group comments that they are fortunate to live in this bucolic environment with its ever-changing light and color. They have worked together for many years and meet weekly in an old cauliflower barn to paint under the guidance of Diane Alec-Smith. New students are always welcomed.

The exhibit will be on display at the Society’s Reichert Family Center’s Cosden-Price Gallery at 54127 Main Road, Southold, from September 19 through October 3, 2015, Wednesday-Sunday, 1-5 pm, closed Monday and Tuesdays.

For more information on this exhibit or other Society programs, please contact the Southold Historical Society at (631) 765-5500.
