American Folk Art Museum Trip - Dec 8

Special Tour of War and Pieced:  The Annette Gero Collections of Quilts from Military Fabrics  at the American Folk Art Museum 

 

This exhibition showcases the spectacularly complex geometric quilts made exclusively by men using richly dyed wools derived from British military and dress uniforms.  The quilts date from the Napoleonic and Crimean Wars.  The New York Times reviewed the exhibit as “...while war is never less than hell, some of its byproducts can be breathtaking”  (New York Times, Stitching the Art of War, October 27, 2017) 

 

Schedule:

 

8AM - Departure from the Hampton Jitney Terminal, 253 Edwards Ave., Calverton NY 


10AM - Arrival at American Folk Art Museum, 2 Lincoln Square, Columbus Ave. at 66th Street, NY, NY 


10:30-11:30AM - Tour of War and Pieced:  The Annette Gero Collections of Quilts from Military Fabrics


4PM - Departure from American Folk Art Museum 


6PM - Arrival at Hampton Jitney Terminal, 253 Edwards Ave., Calverton, NY 

 

Fee: $40 per participant includes bus and museum admission/tour
